We are twenty days away from the biggest Surfcasting event in Cyprus.
If we take into account that in the World Championship that took place in October 2022, 90 athletes from abroad with 5 companions were hosted, then we understand how big this year's International Surfcasting Tournament in our country.
The oldest domestic institution in the field of fishing events returns again this year from December 1 to 3, promising exciting competitions, with many fish and of course unforgettable experiences for all participants.
In this year's event (9th International Surfcasting Tournament), which has been held continuously by our Cyprus Sport Fishing Club since 2015, fishermens from abroad and 10 countries and fishermen from every corner of free Cyprus will take part.
The entire event will be hosted at the Mariandy Hotel in Larnaca and the matches will take place on Friday December 1st in Larnaca and Saturday December 2nd in Limassol.
Registrations have been completed with entries exceeding 120, a fact which demonstrates the long-term support enjoyed by the event which traditionally starts in early December and ends with the festive closing ceremony.
The interest from abroad is particularly high again, since 19 couples with 8 companions from England, Poland, Greece, Germany, Wales, Italy, France, Morocco and Tunisia have already declared their participation.
With the completion of the registrations, the difficult organizetion work of the competitive structure of the tournament has begun.
The full competition schedule will be shared during the week of November 13-19.
Statement by Michalis Michaelidis from the organizing committee of the Tournament
"The event has now been established and is developing into one of the largest and most qualitative fishing tournaments of its kind in Europe, always relating the number of participants to the size and population of Cyprus.
The enormous importance we give to the organizational structure of the organization with constant updating of the website and the Facebook group of the organization and placing special emphasis on technology and electronic registration of teams, the automatic registration of results and the direct access of information to the teams, helped all the best in the development and evolution of the tournament.
In the racing field, balanced and fair matches for all participants skyrocket their interest.
By providing the amazing Cypriot hospitality through the participation of the foreign teams, we also realize the main goal of the organization.
"Development of winter sports tourism" despite the absence of the government machine, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism. It is no coincidence that the participants are in our country for 8 to 10 days for the three-day Tournament.
So for another year we welcome the fishing world from abroad and Cyprus to our tournament with the wish that this year will be an unforgettable fishing experience. We expect from everyone, proper and worldly behavior and lots of applause and encouragement to all participants regardless of level and result.
Indulge yourself in a festive three days of carefree and fun away from the routine of everyday life and stress and enjoy the competitions as well as the closing ceremony with the Awards and Cypriot traditional dances and food.
